Stephen Hawking’s Time Travellers Invitation features in new Science Museum book
Stephen Hawking: Genius at Work is a new book that explores Hawking’s life, mind and science through the objects that were in his study. Among these objects, I’m happy to say, is one of the two Time Travellers Invitation prints that I gave Prof. Hawking when we met in late 2013.

In the realm of scientific speculation and cosmic exploration, few figures have captured the imagination as profoundly as the late theoretical physicist, Stephen Hawking. Known for his groundbreaking work in theoretical physics, Hawking made numerous thought-provoking contributions to our understanding of the universe. Among his many captivating ideas, one that stands out is his reception for time travellers—an experiment that aimed to help unravel the mysteries of time travel.
“How can we learn to widen our perception of time and honour our obligations to the lives of those not yet born?”
...This quote comes from Hatchette, who are the publisher of The Long View by Richard Fisher—a book about time. It will be published on the 30th March 2023, at least from our linear point of view. (It's all relative, isn't it?)
Could ‘ring lasers’ make time travel possible?
Maybe—according to Professor Ronald Mallett, a retired physics professor from the University of Connecticut. The Guardian’s recent interview with the Professor details the backstory behind his career as a physicist, and outlines his theory for ring laser time travel.
Could this particle make backwards time travel a possibility?
Last week, Popular Mechanics reported that a mythical particle (dubbed a ‘tachyon’) could—in theory—travel back in time. There is speculation as to whether or not the tachyon particle actually exists, but scientists say that such a particle would be able to travel faster than the speed of light.
