Today, on what would have been George Harrison’s 82nd birthday, we’re taking a moment to celebrate one of the most influential artists of all time. Born on February 25, 1943, in Liverpool, England, George Harrison is often remembered as ‘the quiet Beatle’. However, he was more than this: a visionary musician who left his mark on the world of music and culture.
As the lead guitarist of The Beatles, Harrison contributed countless iconic riffs and melodic solos. Songs like ‘Here Comes the Sun’, ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, and ‘Something’ not only showcased his songwriting genius but also reflected his deep emotional sensitivity and artistic nature.
Beyond The Beatles, George Harrison’s solo career flourished with albums like All Things Must Pass — a triple LP that remains one of his most celebrated works. He was also known for his passion for humanitarian causes: particularly the groundbreaking Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. This was one of the first major benefit concerts, setting a precedent for music-driven activism.
Though he left us in 2001, George Harrison's legacy lives on — not only through his timeless music but through his message of compassion, introspection, and harmony.
Happy Birthday, George!
