Stephen Hawking's Time Travellers Invitation print sells for £11,250 at auction

Stephen Hawking's Time Travellers Invitation print sells for £11,250 at auction

November 12, 2018

Back in 2013, I spent a hugely enjoyable afternoon with Stephen Hawking at Cambridge University. I had arranged to meet him to hand over a copy of our limited edition Time Travellers Invitation print, which he later hung on the wall of his office. And last week, that same print was sold at auction by Christie's for £11,250.

The print was part of a sale titled On the Shoulders of Giants: Newton, Darwin, Einstein, Hawking and among the other items were hand-written letters from Charles Darwin and Isaac Newton as well as some other personal items that belonged to Prof. Hawing such as his first motorised wheelchair. All items were on display at Christie's in London while the auction was conducted online.

Of course, we kept a close eye on it here and were staggered to see the bidding for our humble print go so high. This may be because of the extensive coverage the auction received – proving that Hawking's star quality endures.

You can see everything that was auctioned on Christie's website here and I'm including some links below to various new sources that covered the auction.

If you would like to hang a copy of Stephen Hawking's Time Travellers Invitation on your wall, the good news is that we continue to sell our open editions of these prints which can be had for rather less than £11,250.
