On this day 52 years ago, John Lennon found himself strolling into an antique shop in Sevenoaks, Kent, as he filmed the promotional video for Strawberry Fields Forever. As he perused the shop, his attention was caught by an old circus poster displaying events from long ago. This then inspired Lennon to write Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! This chance encounter would go down in history as one of many instances of Lennon's ability to turn seemingly insignificant inspirations into hit songs. In fact, Sgt. Pepper also features a similar instance of Lennon drawing from a newspaper story to create A Day in the Life.
