On this day 47 years ago, John Lennon found inspiration in an unexpected place. While filming the video for Strawberry Fields Forever, he stumbled upon an antique shop in Kent, where he laid his eyes on an old circus poster. This was the poster that inspired Lennon to write Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! This moment of inspiration sparked a creative phase for Lennon, where he was able to craft meaningful songs from the most mundane objects and ideas. As we know, this method of songwriting is evident in Sgt. Pepper, where Lennon also wrote A Day in the Life by weaving together snippets of news stories.
