It was exactly 46 years ago today that John Lennon wandered into an antiques shop in Sevenoaks, Kent while filming the promotional video for Strawberry Fields Forever. An old circus poster, containing details of events long since forgotten, caught his eye and the rest is history. It seems that this was a phase during which he could create a viable song from almost anything – Sgt. Pepper also contains another example of Lennon doing something similar with stories he found in the newspaper (A Day in the Life).
