Houdini - Do Spirits Return? (1909)

Beyond his performance career, Houdini was also dedicated to exposing fraudulent spiritualists and mediums, using his knowledge of illusion to debunk their claims. This was exactly his intent when he took to the stage of the Lyceum Theatre in Paterson, NJ at the start of September 1909.

  • Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz in 1874, was a master magician and escape artist known for his astonishing and death-defying escape acts. He gained fame for his ability to free himself from handcuffs, straitjackets, and sealed containers, often performing these feats in public spaces to large, captivated audiences.

This is a reproduction of an original poster.

Vintage Reproductions

In our Vintage Reproductions collection you’ll find beautiful prints based on originals in the public domain. We have taken high-quality scans or photographs of these and lovingly retouched them to restore some of the splendour of the originals. But we have purposefully left behind the signs of age such as yellowing and other faded colours, wonky lines, creases and fold marks, the worn-out type and even the occasional tear. Some details may not be quite as sharp as the originals, but all the charm is there. And these will look wonderful for years to come too, because they are printed using pigment inks on 100% cotton, acid-free, archival paper.
