Harry Houdini, born Erik Weisz in 1874, was a master magician and escape artist known for his astonishing and death-defying escape acts. He gained fame for his ability to free himself from handcuffs, straitjackets, and sealed containers, often performing these feats in public spaces to large, captivated audiences.
Beyond his performance career, Houdini was also dedicated to exposing fraudulent spiritualists and mediums, using his knowledge of illusion to debunk their claims. This was exactly his intent when he took to the stage of the Lyceum Theatre in Paterson, NJ at the start of September 1909.
This is a reproduction of an original poster.
