50 years ago, on this very day, John Lennon stumbled upon a quaint antiques shop in the town of Sevenoaks, Kent, while filming a music video for the song Strawberry Fields Forever. It was there that he laid eyes on an ancient circus poster, detailing events long since passed, and the rest, as they say, is history. Inspired by the vintage poster, Lennon wrote Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! It is said that during this period, Lennon possessed an uncanny ability to craft hit songs from even the most mundane of sources - a feature evident in other tracks from the album Sgt. Pepper, such as A Day in the Life.
